Summer of Soul with DJ Ngaio + Motown Poetry Awards at the Curzon
Celebrate Clevedon LitFest’s Motown themed poetry competition and see one of the greatest music festival docs of all time. This is a powerful and transformative film that shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present.

Dj Ngaio will be on the decks to set the night off, so plan to get there nice and early. Then, during the evening, the winner of the £1,000 prize for our Poetry Competition will be announced by guest judge, Grammy-nominated Adam White, an acknowledged expert on all things Tamla Motown. We are honoured to have him join us.  He is the author of Motown: The Voice of Young America, along with Barney Ales who was the right-hand man of Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records.

Summer of Soul screening includes concert performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, The 5th Dimension and more.
